Farewell Umami Restaurant
The Bahrain Writers’ Circle once had a delightful home where we held meetings, celebrations, two Colours of Life festivals on a rooftop venue specially set up for us! It was a place of memories and laughter, before or after-meeting dinner for some of us. For all this we would never find enough words to thank the owner of Umami, Momen Khandarkar and his able, dedicated and supportive team, Delwar, Suhail and the other lads. As things evolve, the venue, is now closed. There is hope, however, that Umami will be reincarnated. Until then we wait, suspended in hope.
Like many another chrysalis, we, the BWC have had to break out of our comfort zone, explore the world and learn to fly.
So as of this February, we are flitting to not one but three different locations!
Al Riwaq Art Space
Our monthly meeting to be held on Monday 12th February at 7:30pm will be at Al Riwaq Art Space in the American Space up on the third floor. What a beautiful location! Thank you to our member Jan Von Schleh for organizing such a charming spot. Jan is also our speaker for the evening and will tell us all about her upcoming YA novel But Not Forever.
This venue has also changed. We now meet at Era Tower in Seef
ArtDivano
Our venue for the Second Circle Poetry Group on Tuesday February 13th at the usual time of 7:30pm is the charming art gallery at Andalus Garden in Ghudaibiya, ArtDivano. This location was introduced to us by our member Claudia Hardt – thanks for all your efforts, Claudia! Our partnership with ArtDivano promises to be exciting, dynamic and poetic!
Juffair Grand Hotel
Our Creative Writers’ Workshop has a superb, quiet space at the Juffair Grand Hotel in the café on the 9th Floor. Members! Please let them know at the reception where you’re headed and we’ll see you at the cafe. Please place your orders at the restaurant below and come on up!
